Bech is Back is a novel by John Updike, published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1982. It is the second book in the Bech trilogy, which follows the adventures of Henry Bech, a fictional Jewish-American writer. The novel consists of nine stories, in which Bech travels around the world, faces various challenges and temptations, and tries to revive his literary career and reputation. The novel is a satire of the literary world, and a commentary on the American culture and politics of the 1970s and 1980s.
